Rachel is an extraordinary teacher whose vision and knowledge of Pilates and movement provides excellent content for continuing education. The following workshop being offered includes the highly requested archival work that The Pilates Center has been presenting. This workshop takes place over two days but can also be taken as a one day workshop on either day. Don’t miss out!

EMPOWERING THE UPPER BODY / The pilates cadillac:
then and now

Saturday, April 20th 12:15pm-7:15pm

Sunday, April 21st 9am-4pm

A very interactive workshop that will assure you of confidence over some of the most empowering upper body exercises Mr. Pilates ever developed. We’ll work with refining the exercise + body + equipment “formula” for mastery over meeting any client’s upper body needs. Rehabilitative, simply increasing strength, to the endurance and stamina required by elite athletes. There will be extensive time for doing and teaching as well as discussion.

This workshop also interweaves 1940’s archival Pilates Cadillac exercises - many rarely seen - with the classical repertoire. You will learn how to perform and teach these “new” exercises as well as review and deepen your understanding of those more commonly taught. Through comparing and contrasting these two streams of Joseph Pilates’ work, you will gain new insights into how best to utilize the Cadillac in your sessions and how to layer exercises in the most effective way to meet your clients’ needs. The archival material will be especially helpful in deepening your ability to “read the body in front of you” - a critical skill for contemporary teachers. There will be plenty of time to learn the exercises in your own body, practice teach, observe other instructors at work, and ask questions. You will leave confident in your own skills and inspired by the genius of Joseph Pilates.
